Zinnias In Transition

There are still many colorful blooms in the gardens but other petals are beginning to fade. They may not be as bright and vibrant but they manage to retain, at least for awhile, a certain artistic elegance.

For more flowers from around the world visit Macro Flower Saturday, Weekend Flowers, Flowers on Saturday and Today's Flowers.

Well, it's that time of the year. After one of the most fabulous wildflower seasons ever, they are pretty much gone because the frost has nipped them. I love your header picture, though.

The life cycle of the Zinnia was quite interesting...the mocha color at the end is actually quite pretty too.

Zinnia, a favorite of mine and easy to grow. All my children are grown and have Zinnia beds of their own now! Your close ups are beautiful.

You're absolutely right: the color fades but the artistry doesn't. Nicely done.

I love the idea of photographing flowers in all stages. They fade but they keep their petals around the seeds.
Nice shots Judy.

my favorite is the brown colored one, i like flowers in transition as much as when they are full blooms. the header is super duper fine.

Stunning autumnal look of zinnias, particularly the third photo! Just back from UK, now enjoying an unusual
heatwave in September: great for extending the life
if an annuals garden, competing with the perennials - what a turn-around!

Yes, they do! Hydrangeas are another flower that hold up pretty good.

Such beautiful, dependable zinnias. The second photo is particularly attractive with the sharp shadows between the petals.
