Thursday also means it time for Thursday Two Questions!
My questions for you today come as a result of a news story I read earlier today about a girl who used her newly learned first aid skills to help fellow students after a bus crash. You can read the story HERE.
Some of you already know I taught First Aid and CPR for over ten years. In Georgia I taught mostly Girl Scout leaders. In Alaska my students were primarily fire fighters, ski patrol and flight attendants. I have personally used my skills more times than I care to remember.
1) Have you ever had any type of first aid training? Are your skills current?
2) If you were away from town with a group, camping or hiking for instance, would you know how to handle a medical emergency? Remember that even with cell phones help could still be far away.
Bonus question: What is your favorite summer fruit?

that is cute!
Great to have all your ducks in a row!
1) no
2) no
3) tree-ripened peaches
Whew, I thought I'd have to say I know nothing, but at least I know what I like (as the tourist said at the art museum).

Even though it's not Thursday yet, I'll answer these questions. No, I've never had First Aid training, but I do know how to handle basic first aid. My favorite summer fruit is cantaloupe. I know you can get it year round, but it sure only tastes like THIS when it's summer! :-)
Judy, I was certified in first aid while in the military (mandatory) then it was also mandatory when I worked in corrections and I volunteered to to get my certification renewed when I worked in a doctor's office. I like to think I could handle an emergency. lol
My favorite summer fruit is strawberries. Yum!
Trying to get them lined up for me takes hours :D
I do not have any training in that area and I really should. I would panic in a medical emergency.
Love your ducks, in a row. I don't know ANY first aid at all. Shame on me, but I won't be camping either.
Oh gosh, I don't really know lifesaving skills, other than common sense and that we don't breathe with CPR anymore like we used to be taught. Phil does, he has to keep up with CPR classes for his job. So you have saved many lives, so wonderful!!!!!
Yes, I have training. No, it is not up-to-date. I would suggest everyone stay healthy around me at all times.
Yes, I have the CPR/AED for professionals training and it is up to date and Yes, I would be very comfortable during an emergency. I am a RN with training also as an EMT and my husband is a cop. we both thrive under stress and emergencies. oddly enough I have NEVER done CPR??? hmmm........
i love your header photo--so beautiful. and you're a duck whisperer!:p
1) i had first aid training in college but my skills are not current.
2) i'm not sure. i don't panic easily so i guess that would help somehow. but i hope i wouldn't encounter a medical emergency in the middle of nowhere.
wow, you have saved so many lives--that is amazing!
1. Yes and yes
2. Most emergencies I could handle.
Watermelon is my favorite. No question about it. Mulberries are a close second but they are much earlier in the summer.
I try every day to get my ducks in a row and fail miserably! Great job!
Your header is beautiful, and duck photo is fantastic. Rarely do I see this happened.
I have no first aid training, and in emergency I wouldn't know how to help. I have to sign up for these classes ASAP..
That explains why I could NEVER get a photo like this! My ducks are NEVER in a row!
Love it!
Thanks for hopping aboard the crazy train!
I can't pick just one favorite fruit! No! Don't make me do it! I love the summer cherries, nectarines, plums, oh my!
watermelon, I love watermelon. answered that first because it is most important. LOL
do not have any life saving skills and have never been trained. i don't go on outings or away from town, never go far away from EMT access.
I handled many emergency's when my kids were growing up, as in bloody trips to the ER for the doc to sew them up.
No, I haven't.
TBH, don't know what I'd do.
it's a toss up, I like almost all fruit
I saw the things in a row contest. Another fun challenge. Yours is just ducky.
I've had first aid training, but it's now run out.
2. I think I would still know what to do in an emergency. I haven't forgotten what I learned and I think it would kick in if it needed to.
Your duck picture is great. It's so serene.
that is a good question
getting your ducks in a row is not easy and everyone should know basic first aid
First of all, what a beautiful header!! Love the lavender on your page.
I read the story about the young girl- how timely..she just took action!
1) OK, I took CPR when my boys were small because I worried something could happen and I wouldn't know what to do. Then took it again- with the first aid for a CNA course six years ago?? Never saved a life but really admire your skills! I'm always afraid (not current now) that I'll forget something in an emergency? Wonder if anyone else feels like that?
2) I'd like to think things would kick in, so it's a good reminder to stay current.
I love watermellon but maybe my favorite is a big juicy mango?
I visited Alaska back in 1970..a very memorable camping trip with my family and cousins (my Aunt and Uncle live in Anchorage)-
I think those ducks just like to keep us guessing!!
1. Current and Certified
2. I haven't had to, but I would like to think I could handle an emergency if need be.
Cherries....I LOVE cherries!!
beautiful pic...
1 & 2 No
cherries and Mango(when i was in India)
The ducks are so cute!
1. Once I went to a babysitting class where they teach you first aid. But I don't remember anything. I might still have the little book they gave me, though.
2. Hm, if there was someone else who knew what they were doing I might be able to help out. But if I was the most experienced of the group, we might have a problem.
And I can't chose one favorite summer fruit. Too hard.
These are very good questions, as they serve as reminder for me too. I have had the trainings, but it's been so long, I have forgotten most of them. It would come to me if I saw someone do it.
Not right now, I don't think I could do it, but perhaps reading about it would help.
--Luv Your Ducks.
I have CPR & First Aid, but who knows if I'd remember a damn thing!
Lovely blog! The photos are gorgeous!

Cindi Lou Who is adorable
The ducks are adorable!
1. I was CPR certified when I was the administrator at a daycare. It has expired :(
2. As far as an emergency for the most part I should be fine, I have a son so I've had a few to deal with already.
3. My favorite summer fruit is strawberries, yummy!
