To Delete or Not To Delete

Would you delete this photo? Of course you would, I would too. We all make mistakes, we can't be perfect with every shot. No reason to save the bad shots.

I had my finger on the delete key and ........ I saw something that caught my eye. Look at the upper left hand side, see it? Want a closer look? Then look up at my header. I created it by cropping part of the upper section out of the photo. The softness comes from the enlarged pixels.

I will be taking another look at my photos before I delete. How about you?

I often pause to look again before I delete. Cropping can throw up beautiful images that cannot always be seen at first glance. You've achieved a lovely header photo:-)

PS Mom looked again...is there a little critter on the flower that she is missing? You know her eyes are older than dirt.

Judy, you are right. Our eyes are sometimes too critical and we overlook the beauty. I am glad you didn't too.

Yes, it's lovely. But I take so many pictures that I just can't save them all! Although now that you've pointed out the beauty in that one, maybe I'll be more cautious.

i suffer the same dilemma each time i look, this one is beautiful. i keep them if part of it is in focus because it hurts to delete. then i file the folder and forget about it until years later i find it and think WHY did i keep this.
a geek at staples told me once i save them on my external hard drive it is better to leave them there, he said going through and delete delete delete might corrupt the files and make the drive crash. YIKES, so i stopped and now i have thousands of shoulda been deleted

I always find my finger is a little heavy on the delete button. You've made me reconsider....

Deleting can become a regret when you see you may have deleted something beautiful.

Thanks for participating!

You're right, there's no such thing as a bad photo - you just need to look at it in a different way. I keep almost all of mine. Even if they're of no interest to other people they hold memories for me.

I love the flowers and the header and background. The little flower is very pretty, but is there something specific I'm missing? I just KNOW there is, you see things that I would miss all the time. I have been staring and staring! But maybe it is just that it's so pretty? I don't see any hearts or insects...

Oh, I am so bad about trying to delete photos. I'll take twenty shots of the same thing and know which one is the best and still hate to delete the rest. :)
I love your header shot!

I must be honest with you... I am not a very good photographer. I would have saved that picture and displayed it for everyone to see. And it would make a colorful jigsaw puzzle on my computer.

I love the header photo you created with some judicious cropping. Well done.
I am SO bad about deleting anything. Unfortunately, we're like that around the house, too, both of us. It is just fine with digital images, but not with actual 3D items on top of every flat surface and a few not-so-flat surfaces.
Good question. I believe you answered it yourself in creating your header photo.

Some of the prettiest photos just need a bit of cropping. Lovely.

You are so right! I don't do much cropping, but there is often an awesome photo contained in a totally ordinary shot!
good one...

Yes that happened to me a few times, deleting without intense scrutiny. The creative eyes will see the difference between the unique and the ordinary! lovely

It's hard to delete a photo and always pays to take a few more looks before hitting that delete button. Actually, I like the top photo. I like the soft background with the one flower that is really in focus.

Perfect can be boring.. unique is pure perfection. Its gorgeous, Judy.
It took me years to figure that out. I now save every photo until I try cropping them. I have probably deleted hundreds of good shot over the years.. oops!

hugs,
Pam
