It's time for Thursday Two Questions.
Many of you already know I am involved with our local Cat Management Coalition (CMC) and I occasionally volunteer with them during spay/neuter clinics. The CMC is dedicated to decreasing the local feral cat population through a catch-neuter-return program. Today I had the opportunity to learn post op procedures. This included administering immunizations, inserting a microchip and tattooing the ear of each cat following surgery.
I have volunteered with many organizations in the past including the American Red Cross, Girl Scouts, Special Olympics, etc.
My questions for today:
1) What are you feelings on volunteer service?
2) For what organizations do you (or have you) volunteer your time?

1. I think it's very important to volunteer one's time in as many ways as possible.
2. I am a library trustee which is actually an unpaid position--very, very worthwhile. I volunteer at the local women's shelter. In the past, I've served as a docent for the symphony's music outreach to elementary schools; been active in P.T.A; served on the board of directors' at church; taught religious education and even cleaned up the adjoining cemetery (Charleston, S.C.) from time to time.
Thanks for asking.
Best,
Bonnie
1. I also think it is very important to volunteer -- think outside your box and your own world: not always the easiest tasks but putting your skills and time into something bigger makes this world a better place!
2. I write for a magazine and help out my sister with the NGO Virlanie -- Giving back the smile to street children.
:) Take care, judy, that photo is lovely!

Your header is absolutley 200% gorgeous. I love all the vibrant colors and the blue sky.
What an wonderful experience to watch the Vets during the spaying and neutering!!
1. Everyone should do what they can for their community!!
2. While I was working (and I'm still doing it) I crocheted infant caps and afghans for the premmie babies at a local hospital. I'm currently looking into volunteering with the USO.

I think volunteering is a necessity for any community; to pull together for a greater good is remarkable.
I have volunteered but in a limited capacity because of work and family, however, it is one of the things i plan on doing when I retire...I especially want to volunteer with local soup kitchens and the Red Cross in natural disasters and travel around the world to help.
great questions...
Perfect heart shaped cloud you spotted, Judy.
I love your header photo.. I wanta go too!
hugs,
Pam
In Boulder I was a Hospice volunteer, staying with the patient while the family would get away, and I also volunteer for the US Forest Service as a backcountry host, counting hikers and dogs.
Love the heart cloud and am again transported by your header picture.
lovely heart. :)
i've been a bit lax on volunteering lately. i've participated in multiple fundraisers (march of dimes, big bros/big sis, etc.) and i've donated to charities (primarily animal shelters). but i've not given much of my time lately.
my voluteering is at a local long term nursing and rehab facility. for 4 years I was there official photographer and went with them on all outings and documented the fun they had, also all the activities in house. I prayed for God to show me a way to use my photography for good and He sent me there. that is over for now and i am considering the local homeless shelter, since i have a heart for the homeless.
I firmly believe in the idea of giving back. The happiest people in the world are the givers, not the takers.
It is wonderful to read of so many people volunteering to help others, and animals, in need.

1. Volunteering is such a rewarding experience. I think everyone at least once in their life should volunteer their services.
2. I have volunteered with the SF Botanical Gardens and Ocean Beach cleanup. I would like to do something more as well.
Also, Your header and photo are spectacular. I should have you design my blog :)
Neat picture.
The only thing we've volunteered our time for is a few equine events.
Generally we both work too much and have too many things to do on our place (27 1/2) acres
The sky is so blue, a beautiful contrast to the white flowers.
1) I love to volunteer, and would like to do much more when I am available.
2) I volunteer in the schools right now, and that keeps me very busy.
I love that picture!
1. Love volunteering. I actually have a problem with saying "no" that I have to work on because I tend to get in over my head.
2. I do a lot of work in my local town/community and in the larger haunt/Halloween community. Just help were I can.
Thanks for asking :) Glad to have the chance to be vising your blog again. Sorry for being missing so long.
Cheers!
Such a pretty heart!
1. Nothing better then being a volunteer :)
2. I'm a volunteer for the school library 3 days a week, Class room teacher assistant volunteer & my girls & I volunteer at our local animal shelter :) A three make me happy each week :)
Great heart. Another day and the heart would have been lost behind the blossoms :-)
I think most people would agree that volunteerism is important.
I've helped out in a number of ways, coaching sports, designing and building a computer network in a parochial school, mostly things my children are/were involved.
Beautiful fluffy heart!
oh I love that we both found hearts in the sky this week!
What a beautiful heart you found hiding behind the blossoming tree!
1. Everyone should volunteer at something, even if it just means taking a walk and picking up trash.
2. I used to volunteer a lot at the library. Since I am now a full-time caretaker (on call 24/7) for my aging father, I have little time to do that. Instead I concentrate on the Gleaners organization which collects perishable foods from farms and grocery stores, and distributes it around the county.
I used to volunteer for the Girl Scouts, the Boy Scouts, and my kids PTA.
Your readers have left me thinking I should check into what I can do.
Love the heart cloud!
That cloud has a perfect heart shape.
Beautiful shot.
1. To help out and volunteer is a very noble thing, unless you live in a country like mine, where most fond raiser organizations turned out to be swindlers.
2.So, I just help out people on my own, where I can.
A really lovely sky. Very good and nice photo.
I feel that volunteering enhances my life in ways of development mentally and emotionally.
I currently volunteer in my son's school for Math, and in the summer, I volunteer in Bible School.
Beautiful cloud heart!
i love your header photo--stunning!
volunteerism gives us a chance to be involved and contribute in a meaningful way. it makes us aware of what's happening around us.
i volunteer every now and then to an animal shelter, to a community-based poverty-alleviation movement, and with an NGO taking care of street-children.
very beautiful heart.
What a wonderful find in your day!
Amazing heart... love hearts in the sky!!! TFS
