There are two groups of goldfish, "tank suitable goldfish" and "pond suitable goldfish". Tank suitable goldfish are usually the egg-shaped double-tailed variety like the fantails. Like the type you find at the pet store.
Pond suitable goldfish are much larger, slim-bodied, single tailed fish like the one you see in the photo. It is not suitable to put the pond goldfish in a tank. Well not unless you have a really big tank with at least 150 gallons for them to swim around in. Our aviary pond has a lot of large goldfish.

I love it! So lovely blue water and the beautiful turtle! :)
On a hot day there's nothing like being near cool refreshing water. Love the colours and details in your post. JudyKate
We call pond suitable goldfish as Koi, they usually come in gold, orange and sometimes white. And they are very interesting to look at because of their nice colors. I think Mr Turtle wants to play with them!
Hi Judy, I was very busy with Dawn's graduation, debut, her college admission and of course travelling hahaha. Nice to see you again.
Al
he is just getting some sun, not looking at the fish...not.
What a perfect shot, Judy! I like how the turtle stretches out his neck to look around.
Calling by to visit another Outdoor Wednesday participant, it is a delight to share your beautiful photos, delighted to have discovered your blog.
She looks quite big!!! Is it a Koi?
Love this photo and the perspective of it all.

I can see the sun is shining on you and the turtle is loving it. I like fish in a pond, but i feel so bad for fish in a bowl or flower vase. actually can't stand to see them trapped in those vases.
love the turtle. glad the fish has lots of room to swim.
Looks like the turtle has the right idea: basking in the sun. And I didn't know the difference between goldfish, but it makes perfect sense. Your picture makes me feel warm just to look at it.
A fun shot, that's a pretty big turtle.
My lil sis and I do that here fishy, fishy chant when we want them to bite.
Mr. Turtle looks happy sunning himself.
Love the turtle, but what a big, beautiful goldfish that is! I thought it was a koi fish too...
I love this picture. The turtle looks like he's sunning himself on that rock, and the goldfish just swam by to see what's up. I didn't know this info about the goldfish, and I've seen both kinds. It had been a mystery to me. Again, you know all and see all!!!!
What a happy-looking turtle! The koi does look red in that light. Wonderful, to get both of them in one shot!

Great shot, it does look like the turtle is watching the fish. Have a great week!
Beautiful photos here!!
So happy to have found you to follow!
Turtles are fun to shoot and they're great to just sit there unlike some subjects. :-)
Such a lovely capture and I learn so much from you.
