I was out at one of our local parks this past Sunday to see how the spring colors were coming along. Some of the trees are blooming as you can see from this photo and my header but many branches are still bare. The forsythia is bursting with lovely yellow blooms however.
We're slightly ahead of you -forsythia in full bloom, likewise kerria japonica - but it's wonderful to see the flowers, no matter when - such a blessing:-)

Grew up in a small Georgia town with a desire to see some of the places I had read about and many I had not. I moved to Alaska and lived there for about ten years. My jobs took me to many parts of the state including Barrow, Nome, Kodiak Island and many more. I have also lived in California, Oregon and now Washington state.
Let this be the story of the journey so far.

I have several forsythia, I wish the blooms lasted longer.
oooh! love the blue, green & yellow in this one shot!!!
The forsythia are also in full bloom on this side, too. I love the colors that are coming out, with all the rhodies just now beginning to emerge!
Yeah! Love that burst of color.
Very beautiful! Love the green grass, it's very vivid!!!
Thanks for participating, sorry I am late.
Gorgeous. You are a little farther ahead of us. We are just starting to see buds on the trees.
Lovely, and look how GREEN that grass is!!! Our forsythia here has seemed to last so much longer than it usually does.
This is how it should be looking in my area right now, but spring is just barely waking up now here.

Looks like pieces of sunshine perched near taller trees :)
Around here, it's lots of purple (I'm kind of ignorant with most larger plants) and our dogwoods are showing off lots and lots of pinks.
Some of that yellow would look really pretty with it!
No color here yet. sigh
I love the burst of yellow from the forsythia bushes! Great capture!
Funny thing, just today I noticed the tiny buds on my forsythia just beginning to open. Aw spring!
Beautiful yellow against blue sky!
You just have to love that stark yellow! Very nice...
