Waterfowl are interesting animals and I love to photograph them whenever possible. For the most part it is fairly simple to catch them in a good pose.

Ducks are fast so it's good to anticipate their moves and shoot slightly ahead as they swim ....... okay, it doesn't always work.

Darn ............ well at least you can see this one's eye.

And then we have the ones that are very, very camera shy.

All of these photos were taken at our local aviary. I believe the two ducks above are Red-crested Pochards. These fellows are native to Europe and Asia.

You made me laugh out loud! :)
What beautiful and unusual ducks! And I love the shot you got of the red eye!! We seem to have the same mallards and white ducks all the time, but I am looking for different kinds.
I lover that water in the last one..
You always manage to capture great shots. I love the water ripples.
That is really funny! I would have loved to have seen you running around trying to capture these photos :)
the third one is my favorite :)
Great series, nice ducks :-)
Very cute pictures. The duck in the first picture looks like he really is posing for you :)

I love these ducks shots, great captures! I really like the two in the last shot.
That first photo is wonderful, the pink beak and the pink feet! Thanks for the wonderful lesson in wildfowl photography. I will think of you every time I try to take a picture of a duck. LOL

They are such beautiful little feathered friends! Couldn't enjoy water without them!
Very nice reflection in that first one too.
I love your duck photos! Does that first duck have a pink bill and feet or is that just a play of the sun?
Great shots! My favourite is the extremely shy duck! I just love the way you have captured the splash as he stuck his head under water!
I love ducks, great captures of the day!
Look at that, they look pretty. the first one looks like a lady because of the pick beak

I love the fractured reflections in the first one and the color - wow!
That is one bright red eye!
Carletta's Captures
Great shots and I'm glad others have the same problem trying to capture them before they stick their bum up and head down. The last two look like they are wearing crash helmets.
OH MY word what beautiful water birds. I'm always amazed at the brilliant colors of birds. I've always heard if you see colors combined in nature you can bet they will look good in your outfits. The Male Eastern Bluebird encouraged me to read brown and blue together!!
I've never heard of the ducks in the last picture.

You always take such wonderful pictures, but your duck and water shots are exceptional. I am inspired to learn how to do it!
Ya gotta have patience! Great pictures.
This is cool looks like the duck is having fun with a very cold water ^_^

You have so many different kinds of ducks in your area! Gorgeous shots of them!
Funny and cute. The top one is really good with the reflection in the water.

Your photos are really good. My favorite was the one who was shy. I am glad I stopped by today.
Beautiful pics! We saw a group of swans in the canal yesterday. One of them was busy catching her lunch, totally upset down and she was pretending still swimming, legs in the air. Haha..it was really funny;))
I enjoyed your pictures of the ducks. Waterfowl don't seem as willing to pose for me.
Thank you for the birthday wishes.
Ducks are some of my favorite captures with my lens...and you are right..they spook easy and many times out in the wild, they fly away on me before I can even sneak out of our truck with my camera. These are beautiful, we don't have that breed where we live.
j'adore les canards
BOnjour je découvre votre blog et ce blog est magnifique merci
The reflections in the water are stunning!
