Running Late

Memo to Mother Nature: Check your appointment calendar, you are late for your March painting session.

Memo to Mother Nature: Remember to pick up the bright colors on your way over.

Memo to Mother Nature: Your audience is waiting, please take the shortest route.

All of these photos were taken one year ago on March 16, 2010. As of today we have very little showing in the way of blooms other than a few Crocus. None of the gorgeous flowers like we had one year ago. Oh well, Mother Nature should be arriving with her new Spring Collection in the next couple of weeks.

For more flowers visit Macro Flowers Saturday and Today's Flowers.

Well, Lady, if it's one thing I learned about Mother Nature--she DEFINITELY has her own agenda and does what she wants to WHEN she wants to and no one is going to rushe her!
Plain and simple...typical woman; a mind of her own!

Last year we had three months of very warm weather bringing us an early spring. This year, we are behind the times, I'd say. I can't wait for more spring flowers, Judy! Well, yes I can, what choice do I have? :-)

Wouldn't it be wonderful to have such warmth and beauty such as this in our gardens! I am afraid I still have way too much snow ~ with predictions of 3 days of snow starting tomorrow.

It's all very sad isn't it?

I hope Mother Nature reads your blog!!!!

Love this! Thanks for sharing. We have several inches of snow in the forecast for this weekend (I live in Alberta) so this beautiful blast of spring was exactly what I needed too.

I don't know if I could pick a favorite here, but I love the first one. Maybe it's the light! Yes, we are the same here too. But I am glad, we are getting in the 80's almost, then freezing at night. Mother Nature knows when to wait so her blooms won't freeze.

The magnolia is so pretty! And the prunus too!

We have been getting so much rain, an advantage and disadvantage to some wildflower fields. We are going to Carrizo Plain next week, and the hills are not the same as last year's.

I saw the first bluebonnets last week while driving into the Houston Livestock Show last week. My roses are about to send their first flush of blooms out after pruning. We have been advised by TPW we will have less wildflowers this year due to the winter drought. At my ranch the prickly pear are busy getting ready for their bloom the end of April, the leaves have popped their buds on the mesquite two weeks early and the pale green of deciduous trees is already beginning to deepen. The barn swallows have already claimed their spot in the barn and the vultures have started their spring aerial dance. I've seen two pair on the ground scoping potential nesting spots! Mother Nature has blessed me with her beauty. She will be along for you shortly!

Such pretty and delicate displays of spring. Like you, our Spring is unusual. We are waiting and waiting for snow ... we love it and don't really care that all our furs are gone ... we've got nice coats and new booties to wear. But, more importantly, we REALLY need the moisture. March is our snowiest month, and we've barely gotten a trace amount. So. We have neither color. Nor snow. But we keep hoping for both!

In the meantime, we'll enjoy the colors on your lovely blog.

Much love and many xxxx

Winter has lasted a little longer this time, but spring is definitely showing its signs now.

Such gorgeous flowers! We were fooled with warm (77 degrees) weather a few days ago but now we are down into the 20s and 30s and expecting accumulating snow this weekend. =( I guess there's another reason it's called March Madness - LOL!
Anyway, thanks for sharing these beautiful blooms. It surely can't be too much longer...
