Winter Sunset

By now you probably know that Thursday means there will be questions. That's right, it's time for Thursday Two-Questions.

Today's questions:
1) We are all starting to prepare our holiday menu. What is the main course for your celebration? Turkey? Ham? Some other yummy dish?

2) Who will be doing the holiday cooking? You? Everyone shares in the work? Elves?

To see more skies from around the world visit SkyWatch Friday.

What a beautiful header!! I love sunrises and sunsets this time of year.
We do our Christmas on Christmas Eve. Our daughter and sil see his family on Christmas Day.
1. Christmas Eve: Honey Baked Ham will be the main dish along with a favorite side of all attending. I do all the prep since all travel to our home.

Christmas breakfast:
2. 15+ years ago our daughter brought her then boyfriend to our house for Christmas morning. I didn't know him well...but I knew he was very very special if she invited him to our home. I wanted to fix something special....I combed the recipe books for days finally deciding on Monkey Bread...hoping it would be a hit. Little did I know that the boyfriend was a HUGE fan of cinnamon and nutmeg (two of the main ingredients). He often says walking into our home to the sweet armoma sealed the deal with our daughter...he is now my son in law. Daughter, SIL and I prepare the Monkey Bread on Christmas Eve night so that I can pop it in the oven on Christmas morning
Hugs Madi and Mom

My husband and I have a strange Christmas tradition...we have Lucy and Lucky Lobster! Ever since we were married, we have done this as our Holiday meal becuase it's just well, good!
The look on my eleven year old son's face is priceless when they get 'cooked' for lack of a better word! and it seems to be the same every year!

Gorgeous winter sky, Judy!

1) We have a variety of dishes, chicken, seafood, and beef of some sort, accompany with homemade eggrolls.

2) For us, each family brings a dish or two to share.

We make our holiday meals festive by just sitting down together and having our favorite, salmon, with lots of local veggies. We prepare it together, he and I. Love the color in that sky, Judy.

That is a beautiful winter pic Judy. Here it's around 7 deg at night and it will turn colder.

Our christmas menu...well, lunch will be Biryani, which is a one dish meal of fragrant spices,meat(lamb/chicken) and rice, cooked in clarified butter(ghee). This is cooked in most christian homes here on Christmas day.
Dinner will be roast chicken with stuffing on the side or sea food.

I will be traveling out of town to spend Christmas with my mum.So it will be both of us cooking...or we may order lunch from a hotel and cook dinner. What will you be cooking?

Regards the header picture on my art blog, that's just christmas decoration I saw in a shop in Austria.

The sky is magnificent; the leaves on the tree match the sky.

In answer to #1, turkey, dressing, etc. And #2, I just wish there were some elves around. lol

As usual, my Christmas dinner is an exact replicate of Thanksgiving's menu with the exception of dessert which I always make a Black Walnut cake with Cream Cheese frosting. Mmmm-good!

At our home, I now do primarily all the cooking. When my daughters lived at home, they were really good about picking a dish to call their own. My son helps with the heavy lifting for me now that he's such a strong young man, which is very nice because I have trouble with picking up those 15 or 20 pound birds and I seem to struggle with opening jars, which he does with much ease. A sign of age creeping in. But, I love cooking every single special occasion meal in our home. It really gives me a warm sense in providing a lovely meal for my family.

Beautiful sky picture, Judy.
I always make ham and scalloped potatoes. This year we are so lucky to be able to have both my sons here with their families, along with my mom and dad. I do most of the cooking, but this year I'll have plenty of help from Mom and the DIL's.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas, too!

Your sky is positivly glowing!! I really enjoy your two questions, but this time I have no answer! We always get together on Christmas day, but haven't made specific plans yet because they need to check with other family members and coordinate a time.

Pretty! Pretty!

My vegan son is coming home for the holidays so it's good times with tofu coming up!

Our main course at Christmas is usually honeyed ham, but as our family grows, the meal is becoming more of a potluck with a variety of yummy dishes. Guess that answers numbers 1 and 2.

We are having an open house on the 19th. I will make tons of food -- veggie trays, cheese & meat platters, chicken wings, sausage balls, cocktail wieners, deviled eggs, fudge, cookies, cakes, pies, assorted "family friendly" beverages, etc. I have put so much energy into preparing that menu that I've not given a moments thought to Christmas dinner! Aye!

Beautiful sky capture. The colors are gorgeous.
I will answer your two question. My sister has Christmas dinner since I did Thanksgiving. I am assuming we will have turkey and maybe a ham. I am bringing a pie.

I do so love the winter sunrises and sunsets...they are so colorful! I think it is a gift of color fromt he Lord during the whiteness of winter!!

Hello Judy, menu plans: no turkey, no ham, maybe just the usual Crab feast. Noodles of some kind and lots of fruits and vegetables.
I am the cook period. Wish there was someone else?

BTW- the photo is glorious! So beautiful with the light shining as if it was just lit in those particular areas.
