Stepping Into The New Year

One of my favorite things about a fresh snowfall is looking for animal tracks. You never know what you might find in the morning when you take a walk outside. I usually see rabbit tracks and sometimes opossum or raccoon tracks. We also have deer and skunks but it is rare to see their tracks in the yard after it snows. And yes, there are always squirrel tracks in my yard.

But these tracks are something a little different, another wild creature has been traveling through the snow. What could it be?

With six feral kittens our yard has been filled with little tracks. This is Big Sister, or Sissi for short. She always seems to be watching out for the two smaller kittens like a big sister would.

Of all the kittens so far Sissi is the only one that likes to be picked up and petted. Five of the little ones were rounded up and taken in to be fixed and get their shots. I still have one more kitten and mama cat to catch and take in. Our patio has been turned into a kitten nursery so the little ones have food, water and a safe place to sleep.

Thursday means it's time for Freda's ThisWay/ThursWay and Thursday Two-Questions.

A brand new year is on the way. My questions for you today:
1) Will you be making any New Year's resolutions?
2) Will you keep them?

Love the little tracks in the snow from the cat! Very cute!

I've decided to have aims but not resolutions in the New Year! But I do resolve to clean out old clothes by New Year's day and make sure the garden looks good! That resolution never changes from one year to the next!

Happy New Year!

I've starting to look for track on fresh snow too, last year, but we only have cats and squirrel.

I don't make any resolution, since I know I can't keep them.

Happy New Year to you and your husband, Judy!

Beautiful cat, and she looks quite intent on her task. I love your "wildlife" tracks!

You are an angel for taking care of those kitties - not just with food and shelter but with spaying and shots, etc. :)

Not sure about the resolutions yet. Still musing...

I will be making many new year's resolutions, most having to do with writing, exercise, and long ignored chores.

I will be keeping most of them, though maybe not in exactly the way I intended.

I don't have any New year's resolution since I tend to forget them.

Happy New Year!

Sissi is lovely. Do you have plans for her and the five little ones you've had fixed and inoculated? ("Fixed" being a euphemism for spayed or neutered, is it in the Euphemania book which distracted me the first time I tried commenting about the cats?)
I've never had any success with feral cats, including one of my own when I was a teenager in BC. We had moved, and she kept going back to the old neighborhood, which involved crossing a small mountain. I'd go and get her again and again but she never stayed, just continued to live alone under a hedge. Broke my heart.

Hi Judy, Cute picture of one of your kitties... I'm sure there are alot of kitty prints in the snow...

About resolutions, I don't do them anymore. I'm old enough to realize that they never work... BUT--I do pledge to do what I need to do to stay healthy (eat healthy, exercise and get enough sleep)....

Hugs,
Betsy

Animal tracks in the snow are interesting. It's wonderful what you're doing for those kitties! We had some feral ones where we used to live that we fed and we left a carrier out on the porch with a blanket inside for them to get out of the elements.

I wouldn't have guessed cat tracks, but it makes perfect sense now that I know. I like cats the most if they are at least a little bit feral. It gives them personality.

How nice to give shelter to so many kittens. Catching the all too a lot of time, I guess.
This one in the picture is so sweet.

Very cool tracks. LOVE the shots especially the kitty. For me, resolutions are just procrastination. So, none for me.

Have a happy and prosperous New Year, Judy, enjoy!

I love little tracks you see in the snow. We get a lot of deer tracks..
My resolutions are: 10,000 steps a day and less sugar!
Have a great day!

Sissi is pretty. You are so sweet to take care of the cats. That's why both of mine are fixed. There are too many cats out there having kittens with no homes for all of them.
