Christmas Flowers?

Everything outside is covered with snow and all of my beautiful flowers like the one above are gone until spring. But fortunately I have plants inside where it is warm. It is always thrilling when one of the plants blooms in the wintertime, especially the rare ones.

Isn't this exciting, my Candy Cane plant is in bloom! Just look at the color of those gorgeous flowers. This rare plant only blooms around Christmas.

You know I can't resist doing a few macro shots of the beautiful blooms.

It is a little sad however when the blooms start to fall off..........sad, but very tasty!

Speaking of tasty here's a recipe that uses crushed candy canes: Reindeer Feed! Click on the link and check it out.

For more beautiful flowers visit Macro Flowers Saturday and Today's Flowers.

Your Candy Cane plant is amazing. Mine was doing really well but I couldn't understand why it was getting smaller until I 'discovered' my husband picking the blossoms!
Great macro shots.

Love the header! I'm sorry your gorgeous flowers are under the snow, but I'm loving that rare Christmas flower. Hmmmm, and it can be eaten, too! I might have found one I can't kill! Wow!

I went over and got the recipe. If there's time this week, I'd like to do that with the kids in my class. They could crush the canes....

Thanks! Hope you're having a great weekend!

If I plant a little piece broken off from that candy cane plant now, will it grow and produce a new plant for next Christmas...?

As for the scones...I am absolutely NOT A BAKER. Flour and I have never been BFFs. I'm hoping this is the beginning of a beautiful realationship with flour.

My mother in law made the most delicious rolls...I tried they didn't rise.
Frozen fog...they have that in AK right? Oh my stars?!! You all stay warm.
Hugs and thanks for the smiles,
Madi and Mom

Your peppermint header is stunning! I was wondering where you found such a stash, and now I know that you have your own plant to harvest. How lucky!

Thank you for faithfully visiting and leaving comments. I appreciate it so much!
