Gaillardia Aestivalis

My favorite flower of late summer and fall is the Blanket Flower (Gaillardia Aestivalis) which is in the same family as the sunflower.

I like the whimsical petals that at times seem to be dancing. And of course the colors are so rich and bright even on dreary days.

And looks like I'm not the only one who likes the Blanket flowers, the honey bees can't stay away. Notice at all the pollen on the her legs and body. And I love those eyes.

Loved its fiery color! I've been trying to frame a bee in my garden today but it just couldn't stay still on the flower. You did great with this one! Fantastic macro work especially the last photo.

Lovely macro shots, Judy! The last one is amazing, I can see the pollen all over that little guy's legs and his hairy body- so cute! He's so intent -busy little bee!

You really captured the rich colors of the Blanket Flower. No wonder that honey bee is attracted to it!

Enjoy your holiday weekend, too!

What wonderful warm (or should I say, hot!) flowers. The petals remind me of flames. I love the shot of the hard-working bee. I think we'd all starve if it weren't for bees doing their thing!
