What awesome shots!
I love Ellie!
She is very cute - lovely little face :-) You are so right - seeing small creatures up close reveals so much more.
Judy, I love the way your camera lens views the world. Mine is no where near as detailed.
Take care & God bless.
Fantastic!!!! Just this weekend, we watched a movie "Jules Verne's Mysterious Island" and there was a mutant, giant, one of these mantises.
Loved your photos.
Here is my macro link
Hope to have you visit if time allows! Happy Monday.
Great shots especially the header. They are gangling creatures with stick on legs.
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL header picture....
I can honestly say I had no idea a praying mantis had such a sweet expressive face.
Thank you for sharing these beautiful pictures of Ellie's family.
Madi and Mom
I have not seen a praying mantis in many years, i am wondering if florida has them. I love the header dragon fly and i like the way ellies descendant is looking at you and posing. we have descendants of Leonard and Lizzie the lizard couple that lived on our fence.
Hmmm... I've never seen a bug smile before but I believe Ellie is! I am thinking she knew a good place to live when she saw it. :)

Yes, she must have known you are a nature lover, and she decided to send all her little ones your way. And I also love the new header!
That is some stunning macro photography! The last one the mantis looks to be smiling!
Wow that is awesome. Great job.
First off, love your new header photo! Awesome!
These are great shots of praying mantis! I guess I kind of admire them. Don't the females bite the heads off the males after they mate? Ha ha!
Ellie is such a beautiful girl! JoJo would have love her crawling on his hand!
Gorgeous pictures, Judy!
great shot!
say HI to Elly from me ;-)
Hi Judy, Just think what we missed before macros... I never realized that there was so much tiny beauty around... Ellie is a beauty!!!!!!
Love the header.
Hugs,
Betsy
Oh my goodness, Judy!!!! How did you get her to stand up and pose for you? She's even tilting her head and smiling!! You must be a den mother to the mantises!! Ellie was tame?? Do they bite? I'm telling my husband this and showing him, we both are getting a kick out of the story and pictures.
They have such sweet alien faces! I love your bokeh colors in the second shot...great captures, Judy!
I love seeing the world thru a camera lens like this. It does open up a whole new world doesn't it? Thanks for the beauty, Mistaya's mom, Gial
Fantastiskt att ha en tam gräshoppa. Snygg macro. Anita
I have been noticing more praying mantises in my yard and on on my deck for the past couple years. Ellie looks very sweet in this photo! The dragonfly at the top of your blog is awesome!
The violet flower is angelonia, bought at a garden center. I added more information on the blog post as well as a link.
Geez, that is an amazing photo of Ellie. My mouth is hanging open...
Ellie has quite a personality; you can tell from her portrait! I have never seen a mantis in my yard here in Idaho, I don't know if they live this far north. But I enjoyed seeing and playing with them when I was younger and lived in California.
And she's looking right at you! Amazing shots and I love your new header photo!
Fantastic macro of Ellie!
Great shot of Ellie...she is the most pecuilar looking creature I have ever seen!!

Sure does. She actually looks like she is looking at you. I had a grasshopper or something of the same stayed on our patio for a couple of days too. So it sounds as if this is their nature.
Great macros - nice to meet Ellie!
great shot, thanks for the introduction
Splendid shots of the mantis.I love the last pic of Ellie...she's posing for the camera!
Your header pic is awesome!
