The Letter L - Alphabe-Thursday

L is for Lake. A great place for summer fun.

L is for Lawn. It always looks so innocent in photos but in fact it is my arch nemesis and the reason I am always so far behind on my comments. We are constantly at war as it hides weeds and only allows plants to grow in areas of its choice. The grass on my Lawn also grows very fast and has been mowed twice already this year including today.

L is for Lilacs. Speaking of yards, the Lilacs in my mine are getting ready to bloom. Before long the whole area will smell so good.

L is for Love. It is Spring and Love is in the air.

Sorry I got a little carried away, hope you don't think this is too Long.

This completes my assignment for this week. Be sure to visit our teacher Mrs. Matlock and all the other students at Alphabe-Thursday.

Surely, lilacs must grow out here in the San Francisco area but I never see or smell them. They would be such a joy!!!

How lovely are all your bird pictures....it must be egg laying time and, soon, there will be little swans and ducks swimming around on the lakes with mommy and daddy!

Beautiful pictures. I love lilacs. They are so fragrant. My in-laws used to have a lilac bush and I loved when we would go there and they would be blooming.

L is for Lady who has a great blog!!!
What a beautiful post oh yes the battle of the lawn has begun. One year for Father's Day my daughter gave her Dad a t-shirt with
"I fought the lawn and the lawn won" on the front of it. Oh so appropriate too. Madi and Mom

You have a georgous, lush, yard! Is that red leaved plant the nardia that you taught us about last year? We have lots around here, and whenever I see one, I think of you, because I hadn't known what they were called before. O.K., I have been taking pictures of our lilac in stages of bloom, but then your pictures are so much better. I need to go out today and try again. It's something to do with your light, as well. I can't get them right with the sun on them.

Your post is always so interesting, with gorgeous photos, so I don't think it's long at all Judy! Love it.

I don't do grass. If it were up to me to mow, I would use roundup on all my grass.

Luv the multi colored duck. It's my favorite.

TC said...

I've thought of replacing the grass with green gravel, actually we did replace some with gravel, we now mow the gravel because it's grass again....
GREAT pictures, I really like the duck ones and the lilac...

One of my goals in moving to the mountains was to not have a lawn to mow ever again! Yours is just gorgeous, thanks for sharing it. I love to look at other people's beautiful lawns so I don't get tempted to try and grow one of my own!

So pretty! We do not get lilacs here and they are my favorite flowers. Could you please include the scent of them next time?

Loved the picture of the lake too!

Thank you for this lovely respite on my journey through the Alphabe-Thursday "L" posts!

I am sooo envious of your lilacs...something that will not grow in our low desert!

But I'm glad that such a lovely lady can enjoy them!

Have a wonderful Thursday!

A+

Everything is so beautiful. I am waiting, and not very patiently, for our blooms to form and for the spring to really take form. We were getting snow showers today.

We just got rid of our snow, and we had a 30% chance of snow today - lawns, we wish! Yours is heavenly, but not all weeds are bad. I am forever finding new ones to add to the list for their usefulness.

Great L worlds and beautiful photographs. I don't think Lilacs grow here...at least I've never seen them. I used to love seeing them bloom.

One of my favorite summer times in a regular week is right after I'm done mowing the lawn. The world seems perfect....for about a day!

And wouldn't ya just love to freeze those days when the lilacs are in bloom. I would.

Thanks for the trip!
