Flying Low - Monochrome Weekend

I had intended to post only one of these photos but I couldn't make up my mind on which to choose.

For more views of the world in monochrome visit Aileni at Monochrome Weekend.

I like the second one most, but that's probably just because you can see the whole baloonwagon (or what it's called) =)

Amazing photos! Well done.

I love your header! The fire in the balloon is in a spiral!! Is that what I'm seeing?

They're both excellent. I'm glad you chose both. Ilove the way the fire going up into the balloon looks in monochrome.

Great perspective on the hot air balloon. I've never ridden in one but have always wanted to.

Looks like a spiral flame.

Oh My..... I enjoy most monochrome pictures (and you know how much I love all of your pictures)---but after seeing these in COLORS (on one of your previous posts), I prefer the colored one... (Just my Humble Opinion... ha ha )

Betsy

I like the detail and symmetry of the second shot. It is a handsome monochrome shot showing the softness of the silk and a flame that looks awfully close!

I think I just smelt the beautiful flower in the header. Excellent.

Very cool! I am with TRO here, I love the blossoms so much. Both B&W are good, a little different.

Oh my word I'm glad you posted all they are gorgeous. It is amazing how dramatic they are in b&w even the fire for the hot air..
We had a rainy day on Friday and into the wee hours of today. Now it is partly sunny and warm. They say more rain likely tonight.
The kids have gone to visit his family for the day.
Happy Weekend

The second shot gives us a greater sense of the still and quiet as the balloon rises and a much grander voice to the line of fire helping the balloon to ascend. Removing the colour gives more of an idea of the absolute power involved. Good thought.

Oh WOW. I absolutely love these!

awarewriter said...

Both are outstanding shots but the second one is a bit better IMHO because you've given some space at the bottom underneath the basket.

Lindy MacDuff said...

I like them both, maybe the second one just a bit more because the person is looking at you.

Also like your new header photo. =)

Rae said...

My fave is the second one. I like how you captured the flame going up into the balloon.

UP,Up and away in an amazing shot! I really like the way the fire looks.

You usually see balloons as colourful things, so it's great to see them in monochrome. Very unusual.

Absolutely lovely photos. I like the lighting just a bit better on the second, but I'd hate to choose between them. What an experience!

I totally relate to the difficulty in making up one's mind about which photo to post.
Isn't it wonderful how monochrome brings out the patterns of things?!
wonderful photos!
