Almost looks like a "war of the worlds" style alien being. Nice shot.

Hmmmmm--interesting monochrome shot... I think it needs some snow on it...
Hugs,

Loved it!

How amazing in monochrome! I have a sunflower bush nearby that is equally "just about done." Nicely composed...

Great perspective on a sunflower. Who cares about yellow when you have powerful B&W forms, textures and tones.

Great shot. It almost looks human. Sad to be going.

Wow! Great! Lovely monochrome..love the tonality and is very sharp. I echo John's (awarewriter) comment.

Have a great weekend Judy.

A very nice shot, works well for black and white. The end of fall.

The dying sunflower is a very good subject for black and white. It is a great picture. I think it expresses a lot of sorrow.

I never knew a sunflower could look so evil yet so beautiful. I guess I vote for the alien look too.

Judy, first thanks so much for your kind words about Steve. ;-) It's people like you who, even though we've just met, who are helping my mom get through this difficult time but see the good in what we do. Thanks for that. My mom and dad are going to the viewing tonight. I am not allowed to go, (long story) but at least my mom and go give his wife Joyce the card we made him. Thanks for your love and hugs. It means more than you know.

Now on happy thoughts (because you always have such beautiful pictures and always cheer my mom up). Your B&W perspective is just fabulous. I read some of the other comments and yes! it does look sort of Alien like. I just love coming to your Blog. ;-) Thank you for cheering my mom up. She needed a smile. Much LOVE!

The sun flower is bowing its head so it can sow new seeds and feed the wildlife. Isn't nature wonderful!
Sweet solitude and powerful shot, Judy.

For some reason, sunflowers look so dramatic in monochrome. I've seen it done before and have been impressed each time. Great job!
