Something Wicked This Way Comes

Well, not all that wicked, I just love that line from Shakespeare's Macbeth. I wanted to wish everyone a safe and happy Halloween and leave you with a thought.

There's nothing funny about a clown in the moonlight.

Listen . . . .

A house is never still in darkness to those who listen intently;
there is a whispering in distant chambers,
an unearthly hand presses the snib of the window, the latch rises.
Ghosts were created when the first man awoke in the night.

The Great Pumpkin

Linus: On Halloween night, the Great Pumpkin rises from his pumpkin patch and flies through the air with his bag of toys to all the children.

Linus: Each year, the Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch that he thinks is the most sincere. He's gotta pick this one. He's got to. I don't see how a pumpkin patch can be more sincere than this one. You can look around and there's not a sign of hypocrisy. Nothing but sincerity as far as the eye can see.

A Walk in the Woods

What a lovely day for a walk in the woods.

The trees are beautiful.

This path will take you deeper into the woods.

Oh, did I mention that you are alone?

And it is starting to get dark.

The crow is warning you to leave ..... now!

Then away out in the woods I heard that kind of a sound that a ghost makes when it wants to tell about something that's on its mind and can't make itself understood, and so can't rest easy in its grave, and has to go about that way every night grieving.

In the Dark of Night - Monochrome Weekly

Then a dog began to howl somewhere in a farmhouse far down the road, a long, agonized wailing, as if from fear. The sound was taken up by another dog, and then another and another, till, borne on the wind which now sighed softly through the Pass, a wild howling began, which seemed to come from all over the country, as far as the imagination could grasp it through the gloom of the night.

Out for a Swim - Camera Critters

Meow! Miss Cindi Lou Who here to bring you this week's Camera Critters. Just in case you forgot, my mom lets me pick the pictures for Camera Critters. For this week I picked ducks cause mom's got lots of duck photos and I think they are fun to see.

The only thing I don't understand is why they like the water so much, don't they know water is bad and evil except to drink. Do they like to take baths all day? What's wrong with these ducks? Meow.

This was just the cutest little duck, I was following it around the lake taking photos.

Isn't that face adorable?

This fellow swam right over to where I was standing on the walkway. So far it all looks so peaceful and relaxed, just watching the ducks swim. But it's rarely quiet around the lake, these ducks love to play.

It can be really noisy around here sometimes.

At least until the wife tells him to knock it off. She's ready to go back to the nest.

Off they go. I'll bet he's going to get an ear full when they get home.

Hey lady, do you see me? Yeah, that's me right up front, the DUCK!

I thought you said this post was going to be about us ducks. Who let these geese into OUR post?

Check out all the creatures great and small at Camera Critters.

Autumn Thoughts

I love fall! Fall is exciting.
It's apples and cider.
It's an airborne spider.
It's pumpkins in bins.
It's burrs on dog's chins.
It's wind blowing leaves.
It's chilly red knees.
It's nuts on the ground.
It's a crisp dry sound.
It's green leaves turning
And the smell of them burning.
It's clouds in the sky.
It's fall. That's why...
I love fall.

Highways and Byways Part I - The Brenda Photo Challenge

Highways and Byways is this week's theme at The Brenda Photo Challenge.

Some highways and byways have traffic.

Some are simple paths that might not be well marked.

And other paths we have to make for ourselves.

Sometimes there are tracks.

And sometimes the path is in the air.

Maybe we see the path.

And then again maybe we don't.

This is Part I of my posts for this challenge. For Part II go to Through Squirrel Eyes.

Reflect on this Thought

I am part of the sun as my eye is part of me,
That I am part of the earth my feet know perfectly, and my blood is part of the sea...

There is nothing of me that is alone and absolute, except my mind, and we shall find that the mind has no existence by itself, it is only the glitter of the sun on the surface of the waters.

Expand Your Thoughts

We sometimes set our dreams on perches so lofty that no matter how much we stretch we cannot touch them.
The dreams will remain, we just have to grow as a person until we can reach that high.
