Crossing the Snake - Monochrome Weekend

Taken from a boat on the Snake River in SE Washington state. The bridge belongs to the railroad and on the shore is a grain terminal. If you look to the right of the terminal you will also see a power transmission tower in the distance.

For more of our world in monochrome visit Aileni at Monochrome Weekend.

The steel structure lends itself to black and white nicely.

Yes it was you where I first heard of Snake River, I was thinking about Snake Island haha! I like the angle of the suspension bridge Judy and maybe if I was there, it will give me a clear view of the Snake River.

I saw yours too in Aileni's. Congratulations!

I really like the contrast between the sharp lines of the bridge and the soft lines of the river bank. Nice shot!

I like how you have composed this shot, SQ. The light grey of the sky in the centre of the image being contained by the bridge above and the land beyond. You have also managed the exposure well to show us a full range of greys. Good monochrome.

Very Ansel Adams like. Lovely range of grey in this one.

LOVE IT! I've got this 'bridge' thing, especially railroad trestles. I have my dad's old bridge photos hanging on the wall.

I love bridges. I remember when I was a kid my cousin tried to get me to walk across a railroad bridge with him. I don't think there would have been any trains, but I'm still glad I didn't go.
