The gardener objected that the tree was slow growing and would not reach
maturity for 100 years. The Marshall replied, 'In that case, there is no time
to lose; plant it this afternoon!'
As told by John F. Kennedy
I believe this tree is a London Plane Sycamore.

That's an old tree, I can tell it by it's trunk. It gives a perfect shade for that picnic table. We have lots of trees in the front and backyard, it protects us from harm during stormy days.

when I see a tree then i'll remember John F. Kennedy's words. :)
hugs to the beautiful trees and to the generous YOU! ;)
What a fantastic tree! That one branch is so unique. Wonderful photos, Judy!
I just love those big old gnarly trees......
What a great tree, I'm so glad they supported the limb rather than cut it off.
Wonderful pictures.
Sunny :)
How neat. I wonder how many people have climbed on that limb?
Looks like he is saying "help my arm is so heavy, I need a prop".

I agree; it's got a nice little prop there. I love old gnarly trees, too, Judy. I also will remember JFK's comment when I look at an old tree.
we have many old trees here in Florida that have to be propped up. Like us when we get old and need a walker. ha ha. i would love to travel the road to HERE
I'd never heard that saying from JFK before, I will remember it too. That is a wonderful tree. Do you know how old it is?
We have trees shaped somewhat like that here, some say the Indians bent the branches to show the way on a trail.
Wonderful photos as always.
I also want to know do you get up really early or stay up really late? It's one or the other considering your time zone LOL.
Just beautiful!
Awesome! I think I would have a swing there instead of a picnic table.
I love trees, and that's a wonderful quote. That tree is just great.
I like the way the light hits the branches and trunks in the foreground with the white on colour effect.
Judy, amazing tree! beautiful old Sycamore... can you imagine the stories it could tell? Diana
OMG. What an unusual tree. It's good that somebody propped it up instead of just cutting off that branch. It gives it character.
Isn't he magnificent! I love trees, thanks so much for sharing! ~m.
Awesome...such a big, beautiful and stately tree!!
What a huge beautiful tree. I'm wondering if it's in someone's yard, or public property. I'm guessing a yard, since such care was taken to prop up the limb.
These photos look like the trees that are growing over in a part of Griffith Park in Los Angeles.
Hi Judy, Love the fact that that post is holding that one limb up.... That is a gorgeous old tree....I would love to see it also in Spring or Summer. What a beauty... Let's have a picnic. Okay?
Hugs,
Betsy
"Gorgeous"!!!!
Have a good day SqurrielQueen.
I love trees Judy, especially old ones. Imagine the tales it could tell. I hope you will get shots of it with leaves in spring.
I love the third picture. It looks so dramatic. What a nice scene!
That is such a magnificent tree it remindes of the Tree poem by Joyce Kilmer;
I think I shall never see a poem lovely as a tree.
Thanks Judy, for spreading this beauty...
Big and tall trees, they always exude beauty! These are a great series of shots. I was in a tree frenzy when I went to Descanso Gardens last week. When I see trees I remember my hubby's favorite poem by Joyce Kilmer.
Fabulous photos. . . as usual. :D Love the story.
What an interesting tree.
I love that the branch has a crutch to keep it from falling down. What a great tree!!!
