Harvest Festival

This past weekend was the last time our Farmers' Market would be open this year. It was celebrated with a Harvest Festival.

The air was festive, costumes all around.

No more ice cream, the menu had changed to more hearty fare served hot. There was after all a chill in the air.

Baskets were filled with the final offerings for the season, so colorful and bright but still a reminder that winter is near.

Indian corn made for colorful displays all around the market.

Pumpkins (this was also Halloween) and gourds of all shapes and sizes were abundant.

Woolens and textiles were bright and cheery. Click on any photo to enlarge.

Maybe pick up some artwork as a reminder of the glories of the summer crops.

No guessing on prices, every item was clearly marked.

But the signs are coming down now, to be stored away until next year. No more fresh corn can be found.

The last pumpkin will be picked.

The equipment will be put away.

The fields have been harvested, oceans of brown can be seen all around. They will wait patiently for Spring to come again.

This post is part of the Farmers' Market Harvest Festival Photo Challenge. See the post above this one for more details.

If the rain isn't just terrible here tomorrow, Judy, I'll head to the Farmers' Market for some pictures of what's there now. Thanks for the reminder! I love the pictures and commentary -- makes me feel like I know that part of the country too...

What a fantastic harvest, Judy! Your town knows how to celebrate Autumn.

Wow, obviously the colors tells that everything is fresh and I want to pick some right at the moment haha. The gourd which we always saute with ground beef is an all time favorite. Did you try the chicken dumplings? I suggest that you must, its good. Bagel dogs?

Thank you for sharing and I hope I can show fresh harvest in the next photo challenge.

Neat idea- I think I probably missed my chance, but I'll think about something that might work. Oh, and great pics! I like the pumpkin with the shadow.

A lovely series of photos showing Fall coming to an end. Those gourds are interesting we rarely see them here.

I love your harvest pictures, especially the gourds and textiles. I've never been to the farmers market in my town, but now I'm inspired to check it out!

These pictures are just eye popping! For some reason,I love the picture of the soup menu! Also, that colorful rug, and the pumpkins flowing out of the basket! The empty field at the end completes the story.

You tell a nice story that goes with the photos. I like seeing the different pumpkins, colored corns and gourds. I like the "oceans of brown"...how true! Thanks for sponsoring this challenge. It was fun to be a part of it!

Great pictures! Love the gourds. I had no idea that there was so many different kinds, colors and shapes. :D The displays, etc., shows everyone was celebrating one last time before winter sets in.

That was a great post. I loved those pictures. Looking forward to your winter in WWW. Next year I really have to find a local FM. You think it would be easy. Those green and white gourds were very different.

Judy I enjoyed your Farmers Market especially the different sizes and shapes of the gourds. The corn is so colorful too. I'd opt for the clam chowder soup.

I am thankful more than a thousand times, that we have farmers market whole year round.

I have enjoyed the challenge, and I look forward to the future challenges.
