First Love - Monochrome Weekly

My first SLR was this Pentax ME Super, I bought it about 1979. Not a top of the line camera but it was the best I could afford at the time. We shared many adventures over the years.

To see more of the world in monochrome visit Aileni at Monochrome Weekly.

The good old days. I bought a Mamiya in 1975 and it could use the Pentax-lenses.

Love the photo!
I have a few of my old SLR's and I can't seem to get rid of them, they've sentimental value.

I've been eyeballing the digital SLR's and will one day make the investment. I'm sure that when I do, they too will be cool paperweights like my other cameras!

Looks like a proper camera, more substantial than the little digital ones nowadays.

I also have mulled over having a DSLR, since they take such awesome pictures. SLRs are a special breed of camera, aren't they? I've never had anything but a point and shoot, but I'm thinking of changing all that, now in my old age!

Super photo.

Like DJan, I've only had a point and shoot including the Coolpix I now use. I so want a DSLR but can't justify buying one yet. lol

Great shot. I love the way object like that can look in close up monochrome shots.

do you still use this camera? I have only owned one SLR and it is the one i have now. I love my Canon Rebel that I bought in 2006. until then I had easy share kodak. that replaced my Minolta 35MM. I only really discovered my love for photography when I bought my first digital point and shoot in 2002. Love the photo for today

What a cool idea to take a picture of your camera! I could never learn an SLR! I use a Nikon Coolpix P80, which is kind of in between a point and shoot and an SLR. And I'm always leaving it on the wrong setting and then asking my daughter-in-law why it's not working right. She has a SLR. That alpaca post I did; the first set of pictures were bad. It would only focus on the fence and not the animals. A day later I realized it was because I'd accidentally left the camera on Macro!

Hi Judy,
You have a very artistic mind when it come to what you want to shot. This is a terrific example of your unique thinking. Well done!

Nice photo. My first "real" SLR was a Pentax Spotmatic I bought in 1970. Pentax was still serving the pros back in the 1970s. I don't have that camera now, but I won another Spotmatic on ebay a few years ago. Takumar 50mm lenses are seriously good glass.

Like it, know nothing about the camera, but your picture my new friend :-)

I am sure you can still enjoy it today! Looks like you treated it as a treasure!

I love your photos. It's not simply the camera but the "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". You have patience and skill at finding beauty & capturing it. We are the lucky recipients. lol

Unfortunately I dropped my little point and shoot Wednesday night and am trying to figure out where to go from here...

I don't have anything nearly as good as an SLR. I wish I did. I'm just now beginning the decision to move on to only my second camera. One day an SLR will be the only way for me.

Beautiful shot. I lost my old film SLR many years ago but this brings the memory back to me.

Nice shot of the business end of a good camera. I bought a Pentax ME in 1978, it was the one before the Super. It lasted me many years before the shutter gave a out a few years back. I still have the body, but use an LX with the old lenses.

Very cool composition and I like the hint of a reflection in the lens too.

As that you are into photography, I thought that you may be interested in a monthly blog posting called “5 on the fifth” where You can either take 5 random pictures of anything that happens to you on the 5th of November (or the days leading up to it) or perhaps go for my suggested theme.

Just post your pictures on your own blog and then post a comment on MY blog with your name, location and link to your site – I then update the entry so the world has your link. Remember to mention my blog on your own blog so that your visitors get to see the other contributions.

Very great mono shot! You have developed your photographic skills as seen on your shots! I still have my old Nikon N65, but did not polish my skills until the digital age!
