The Coscoroba Swan, even though it has a wing span of about five feet, is the smallest of the swan species. Their bodies resemble a small swan but the head looks more like that of a goose. The white feathers really accentuate the red beak, legs and feet.
Like all swans, the Coscoroba mates for life. While the Coscoroba is native to South America the swans in these photos are in the aviary of our local park.

They look like a peaceful couple as they swim around the lake. Two happy hearts :D
Have a nice day, Judy.
Hello swans how pink your beaks are, and your graceful moves made people stare and admire you.
Have a happy weekend Judy.

What a pretty swan. I am glad you mentioned the head of a goose, I was beginning to wonder if it was a swan or goose.
Great photos for camera critters.
lovely swans! their pink beaks made them even more adorable. :)
They are so white and their little red beaks and legs look like they have been painted. Great shots.
Beautiful photos of the swans! They always look so graceful..
look so lovely...
Swans are some of the most elegant birds that exist. They are so graceful. I think it is relaxing just to watch them. I did not know this variety existed. Even with their shorter necks they are just as beautiful.
the first thing i've noticed is the red beaks, a stand out! you normally see a black beaks ones!
graceful even in photograph!
Beautiful swans, Judy. If you had not explained I would have been sure I was looking at a goose. And I did wonder at the difference in temperature between their natural habitat and here. Apparently they do just fine here.
I wish there is a place like this near my house so I can just sit and watch these beautiful critters! Gorgeous photos, Judy!

Thank you for my 'You learn something new every day' moment today! I've never seen one of these before. Beautiful!
They are beautiful. Their feathers are so white. I love to watch ducks, geese, swans, all of them in the water. They are hoot when they put their heads down and their bodies pop up in the air.
Thanks for your comments and following on my new blog, hope it will not be too boring what with food and all.

As I scrolled down looking at the photos I was struck by how goose like their faces were. They are so white and beautiful.

Beautiful pictures of the swans, Judy... I tell you this ALOT---but you do take the best pictures. What is your camera?????
Love your new header also. I changed my header today.
Hugs,
Betsy
Just goes to show what a good publicity campaign will do. Here are some almost colorless, dirty, nasty birds, and after their PR drive, we view them as elegant enough to top a wedding cake and symbolize true love.
Just kiddin'... I've always been enchanted by them. Love watching them gracefully glide across a lake.
New type of swan for me. Looks more like a big duck!
Your photos are just wonderful. Your travels have given you a keen eye for detail!
Thanks for stopping by Greensboro Daily Photo!
These are new to me and I would have said geese if you hadn't told me they are swans. they are lovely and the reflection of the wire netting in the second shots makes an interesting background to the swan.
Awesome captures!!
The swans are beautiful! I love the pattern of ripples in the water and the way the sunlight plays up the effect.
I thought it was a big duck too.

This is so lovely series of photos! I enjoy looking at these lovely and elegant creatures.
I LOVED these photos...I love swans. Did you see the post I did where I caught some wild swans out on a pond in the wilderness?
You did a great job on these shots. They are hard to photograph because they are so white they often blur in photos.
