Coscoroba Swan - Camera Critters

The Coscoroba Swan, even though it has a wing span of about five feet, is the smallest of the swan species. Their bodies resemble a small swan but the head looks more like that of a goose. The white feathers really accentuate the red beak, legs and feet.

Like all swans, the Coscoroba mates for life. While the Coscoroba is native to South America the swans in these photos are in the aviary of our local park.

Hello swans how pink your beaks are, and your graceful moves made people stare and admire you.

Have a happy weekend Judy.

What a pretty swan. I am glad you mentioned the head of a goose, I was beginning to wonder if it was a swan or goose.
Great photos for camera critters.

They are so white and their little red beaks and legs look like they have been painted. Great shots.

Swans are some of the most elegant birds that exist. They are so graceful. I think it is relaxing just to watch them. I did not know this variety existed. Even with their shorter necks they are just as beautiful.

Beautiful swans, Judy. If you had not explained I would have been sure I was looking at a goose. And I did wonder at the difference in temperature between their natural habitat and here. Apparently they do just fine here.

They are beautiful. Their feathers are so white. I love to watch ducks, geese, swans, all of them in the water. They are hoot when they put their heads down and their bodies pop up in the air.
Thanks for your comments and following on my new blog, hope it will not be too boring what with food and all.

Just goes to show what a good publicity campaign will do. Here are some almost colorless, dirty, nasty birds, and after their PR drive, we view them as elegant enough to top a wedding cake and symbolize true love.

Just kiddin'... I've always been enchanted by them. Love watching them gracefully glide across a lake.

These are new to me and I would have said geese if you hadn't told me they are swans. they are lovely and the reflection of the wire netting in the second shots makes an interesting background to the swan.

The swans are beautiful! I love the pattern of ripples in the water and the way the sunlight plays up the effect.

I LOVED these photos...I love swans. Did you see the post I did where I caught some wild swans out on a pond in the wilderness?
You did a great job on these shots. They are hard to photograph because they are so white they often blur in photos.
