My long time followers know of my quest for the perfect bee photo, well I'm not quite there yet but these are not bad IMHO. They were taken this summer and what I like about these two photos is the eyes. Click on any photo to enlarge.
"The better to see you with," Judy. I had no idea that bees eyes are so large. It makes them look so adorable! What are you missing in your bee photo that you are still trying to capture?
If you like bees, you could get what ever you wanted in our yard, they swarm our powderpuff bushes, one on every flower. I can see all the little fuzzies AND the eyes. great shot

Grew up in a small Georgia town with a desire to see some of the places I had read about and many I had not. I moved to Alaska and lived there for about ten years. My jobs took me to many parts of the state including Barrow, Nome, Kodiak Island and many more. I have also lived in California, Oregon and now Washington state.
Let this be the story of the journey so far.

Amazing macro! It was amazing how close you were and the details on the bee.
Macro photography fascinates me-it opens up a whole new world, doesn't it? These photos are wonderful-such detail.

Amazing photos!!! I've never seen better ones of bees! Truly awesome.
BEE-utiful, Judy... You may not be pleased with your bee photo, but it's perfect to me.

Queen of bees as well :)
I thought I was the only one with that obsession. They don't cooperate much, do they? These are great shots.
Fantastic bee close-ups! I like the contrast of the fuzzy parts with the shiny eyes and wings. :)
Wonderful macro photos, indeed!
Better than not bad. It's tough to get bees to hold still for you.
a fascinating concept and execution.
Incredible shots! I love bees. Such wonderful creatures. We owe them so much.
That first one looks just about perfect to me!!
Smileys!

Not bad?! I say "awesome!"
He is BEEautiful!! Nice captures!
They are beautiful down to most minute detail.
The eyes on the second one seem to have a sweet softness... not what I typically think of bees! Amazing photos.
It is so much fun to see things through your eyes, Judy. Wonderful pictures!
I agree - those are beautiful eyes! Insect eyes almost always are.
I must admit, I try to get bee shots too, but never get anything worth publishing on my blog. They move too fast!! So well done - not bad indeed!
The second shot is absolutely beautiful! Very inspiring - for an etching!
Great shots. Both are wonderful but I like the gentle look of the second one best. (Can a bee have a gentle look?)
He's a purty little critter, ain't he? I love taking an occasional up-close look at nature. Thanks for sharing these Superior Snaps!
Insect photographs are always awesome - nice that the bees were so cooperative.
