The photo was taken this past summer while the B-17 was on tour. Click on photo to enlarge.

This one in mono evokes World War II -- not to mention the old B-17. Wonderful capture, I studied it in the larger version and could read the prop!

This one of the plane is fantastic. It looks like it came from a scene in an old movie.

Very effective in mono...the FIL would love this too.

I love how B&W brings out the detail.

Did you hear the engines start? Ever see the film 'Twelve o'clock High'...?
Marvellous image that conjours the imagination.

The historical angle makes this a perfect shot for mono.

A great subject for monochrome...suits the times of the bomber.

Thanks for greetings and sharing your photos.
Thought I saw copies of Rune´s
:)
or may be the original he has copied

There was not much colour-film when this was around, so b & w is very appropriate.

Nice capture. Excellent! Great detail and clarity. Monochrome is wonderful because one gets to focus on a subject. Sometimes colors can be distracting.

I find it very difficult to say anything about motor bikes, aeroplanes and vehicles of any sort, except perhaps to comment on how well they look when photographed in monochrome!

This shot reminds me of an old war movie!
Monochrome and the old black and white movies!

12 O'Clock High - now I can relate! But I thought they were flying spitfires!

Does looks like a shot from an old movie

The B-17 wanted to be shot in B&W. The angle, the clouds, the composition all work well. This photo had to be in B&W.

I love old aircraft, beautiful noise from these old radial engines.

Being a lover of vintage airplanes, I naturally gravitated to this one. Marvelous! And an excellent choice of subjects too. A highly respected workhorse, recognizable even cropped this tight. Bravo!

(I posted an eerily similar -- albeit in color -- shot of an old DC-3 at an air show recently on a different theme.)
