We have two farmers' markets in Walla Walla, one is on the weekend and has lots of vendors and fills a large area. The second market is held on Wednesdays at a small park in the downtown area. It has only six or seven vendors most weeks but still has lots of fresh produce and assorted goodies.

Our Wednesday Farmers' Market.

This is Heritage Park in downtown Walla Walla. The mural you see on the right depicts the original downtown store fronts. There are several such murals on buildings all over town.

The venue might be small but the produce is always fresh from the farm and the assortment is good. I found some of the sweetest, juiciest blackberries on this table.

Don't these tomatoes look yummy?

It's time for fresh corn.

It all looked so good. I bought some of the summer squash and zucchinis that you see on the right hand side of the table.

This vendor came from Oregon to bring her farm fresh fruits and vegetables to the market. LaGrande,Oregon is a bit of a drive from here.

Because LaGrande is a higher elevation the growing season is later, these are a new crop of Rainier cherries, super yummy. Of course I just had to take a few home.

Can you believe the size of these squash, the large one had to weigh almost three pounds. The zucchini was enormous. Wow!

And of course with this being Walla Walla there are always onions.

Mmm fruit ... and those tomatoes! look at the size of them!
I do love the idea of murals as well, it's a history and art lesson in one...
Judy,
It doesn't matter how big or small, or where the farmers market took place as long as all products are fresh. I haven't seen rainier cherries before but now I did! Thanks for that. I have seeing a variety of fruits and veggies here. Thank you.

Looks fantastic. I have missed havving our market this year. There is nothing better than fresh produce available locally. Store bought just can't compare.
Hi Judy, welcome back.I enjoyed this market tour, and i like the mural,it's nice to see how things looked back then.
I see grapes and peaches....we get these here in India(it comes from USA)and it's expensive.Nothing like buying fresh from the farmer.
It's so shady and pleasant there! The only problem I'm having with our market is the expense. I bought a $3 tomato last week, and although it was really good, was it worth that much?
That fresh corn on the cob looks irresistable! Yum~
Wonderful photos and what a great idea to help our local farmers.
You took beautiful pictures! They put mine to shame! Oh well I'm just happy this is promoting the markets! It's become a tradition in my family to go every weekend. Right now during the summer our market is open on Fridays too!
This market may be small but it is wonderful! The variety as well as the color and size is incredible. I'm jealous. :D
Those squashes look sooo yummy! I can't believe how huge they are! Everything looks so beautiful and delicious! I saw another blogger's link from Washington, and I seriously want to move there now! I think I'm finally tired of this heat. I am looking forward to doing this again in September. There's a farm nearby that will be opening for their fall season towards the end of September, and I'm hoping to see some of my favorites soon... pumpkins! :) Hurry up, fall!
This all looks great, especially compared to the stuff we get over here at some of the farmers' markets I've been to. I'm so envious.

Hi Judy, one thing good about local produce is that they are pesticides free. I love their fresh fruit especially the berries when they are integrated in baking (blueberry muffins...yum). I will make a note in my calendar for the next "episode" of the Farmers Market Challenge. I enjoyed reading all posts and it was also my pleasure joining this group.
My main blog is here.
What a yummy photo shoot!!!
