The Great Red Breasted Hunter

We have quite a few robins in our yard they are always very entertaining. This fellow more so than usual. The normal menu for our feathered friends of the red breasted persuasion is worms. At any given time there are two or three busily hunting around the yard for the juiciest earthworm they can tug out of the ground.

This fellow however snagged a gourmet treat (for a bird) and decided to show off a little before returning to the nest. He was so very proud of the moth he had captured. Notice in the second photo how he puffs out his chest.

You seem to have so many different things in your yard, or just a great eye! What a cutie, these snaps are wonderful

Isn't it lovely to live amidst nature!I have a few wild birds that hop around my balcony and i feed them morn & eve.I have an owl that likes to perch up at night on the window.
With so many trees being cut these birds have nowhere to go....but drop by our homes.
HAVE a nice day.

Ditto what Anya said...perfect shot. Envy showed up when reading about Charmine's owl. Saw a huge roadrunner drinking out of the water tank. Does that count? lol

We saw a sparrow catching a moth when we were in Istanbul. It was so impressive to watch the sparrow flying and swooping around. Of course, once it was caught, then umpteen other sparrows bundled in to try to take it away. Life is not fair.

Great shots! I love watching the robins. I've never been able to get one with a treat in its mouth.

You must have been very subtle to get such good shots without scaring the robin.
