What is a Weed?

While driving home from the grocery store yesterday I passed this field. I had my camera in the car so I could not resist taking a few photos of this beautiful sight.
But it is just a field of weeds!

What is a weed?
A plant whose virtues have not yet been discovered.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

More than likely a weed wasn't considered as one in the old days. I believe every bit of nature serves a purpose. Thanks for the post. It made me do some deep thinking on the "weeds" of life.
Hugs,
Sandra

I refer to them as wild flowers! We have some beautiful ones. They are only weeds when they pop up in a spot that is reserve for something else...

Yeah... I so don't see them as "weeds"... mother nature has given us some beautiful things to look at, and mankind can sometimes be insulting toward her^.^

Miss Sandra,
I do hope not, these are some very beautiful wildflowers. Weeds just keep us on our toes.

MzzLily,
Me, unfortunately most folks driving along that street will just think of them as weeds.

BarbiePhobia,
I agree, Mother Nature is a true artist and none other can compare.

A weed is a plant growing where you don't want it. I've actually dug up thistles from the lawn and moved them to the butterfly meadow along with the milkweed.
