Barrow Alaska Webcam

Barrow, Alaska is the northernmost settlement on the North American mainland and in the United States. Point Barrow is the northernmost point in the United States.

July is the warmest month of the year with an average high of 46 °F (8 °C) and an average low temperature of 34 °F (1 °C). Beginning in late July the Arctic Ocean is relatively ice-free, and remains so until late October.

Since I am hearing everyone talk about the heat of summer I thought you might enjoy this, and maybe it will cool you off just a bit. This is the link to the Barrow Sea Ice Web cam. It show you a view of the town as well as the Arctic Ocean. There are many other links on this page that you might enjoy. To view the web cam click HERE. I have it saved to favorites so I can check it often to watch the ice change.
Just a note, the photo is a very old one I took while there. It is a view of the back side of the town and not very flattering but I was on my way down to the beach.

That's superfreezing...just in time for summer! But summertime is finished here, we're on the rainy season, I'll get back to that view next summer.:)

Have a nice day SQ.

Very cool, so jealous that you spent time in Alaska! I'll bookmark that web cam for if and when the thermometer ever goes above 80 in New England again and I need a virtual cooling-off...I'm starting to doubt it's actually summer here! -kate

I wish it was that temperature year 'round. I'd move in a heartbeat! Nothing better than a warm fuzzy horse!

You know my love of the frozen north, so I'm going to check out the webcams and dream little dreams of happy cold days.

That is a refreshing post, thanks. Are you from Alaska or did you live there for a while?
