Seven Daffodils

Seven Daffodils

I do not have a mansion, and I haven't any land,
Not even one dollar to crinkle in my hand.
But I can show you morning on a thousand hills,
And kiss you and give you seven daffodils.

I do not have a fortune to buy you pretty things,
But I can weave you moonbeams for necklaces and rings,
And I can show you morning on a thousand hills,
And kiss you and give you seven daffodils.

Seven golden daffodils, all shining in the sun,
They light the way of evening, when our day is done.
And I will give you music and a crust of bread,
And a pillow of piny boughs to rest your head.

Seven Daffodils is an old folk song my friends and I used to sing around the campfire after we tucked the campers into bed. We would sing to lullaby the girls to sleep. One of my friends had this played at her wedding.

For some reason this song popped into my head today and just stuck there. If you want to hear it just start the player above.

MzzLily,
Hi, I love the decorating you've done to your blog but the comments don't seem to be working. I can't get it to let me post anything.

Lovely song full of imagination. Glad you shared it. Truly the best treasures in life are the ones that are free, such as the moonbeams and the hills.

Poet,
It is a lovely song, very romantic especially the moonbeams and morning on a thousand hills.

Funny I thought I'd never heard the song before but it's really familiar. THANKS!!

Hi TC,
I can't believe I remembered it after all these years. It was a really old song when we sang it around the campfires. I know it was popular at weddings for awhile, that might be where you heard it.
